The bridge crew
Meet the AI-driven bridge crew of the IKAREE
Six officers with their own histories, humour and ways of disagreeing. Their dialogue is generated live, so they answer what you actually say. Talk to them, ask their advice, overrule them. They remember.
Engineering Lieutenant Commander Rafael Duarte, 56, from Porto, runs the engine room and talks to the bridge over the intercom while Brooks flies the ship. The longest-serving man aboard, he never lies about the numbers: “You want warp eight out of a cracked nacelle? She'll do it. Once.”
How the crew works
Each officer is an AI-driven character with a written personality: where they come from, what they are good at, how they joke, how they disagree, whom they get along with and the thing they never say. When you speak, the officer whose station it concerns answers in their own voice. Their faces are lip-synced and they turn in their chairs to talk to you.
They don't just obey. Commander Reed plays devil's advocate on purpose, Lieutenant Cole names the risk in one sentence and then complies, Dr Grant tells you medically why your plan is terrible. After you decide, they carry it out. In story episodes they remember your choices, and after a mission they may write about you in their private journals.
